Operation New Uniform brings new opportunity for veterans in Jacksonville

Wednesday a new batch of Jacksonville veterans became one step closer to entering the local work force.

Operation New Uniform is a local nonprofit designed to help veterans earn a job after their military service helping them transition from the military to the civilian work force.

“There is a lot of hope that wasn’t there before,” said Army veteran Danielle Crowder who served four years, and spent the last four combating a sputtering career.

That’s changing now as Crowder and eight other vets with only honorable discharges joined their fellow graduates of Operation New Uniform.

The local nonprofit has one objective according to its executive director, Justin Justice: “Transition from the military to the business community. They often leave the military and they’re frustrated and worried about started over."

“It is so hard to transition out of the Navy, you don’t see yourself as an individual, ONU has allowed me be an individual,” said Michelle Ladmirault, a Navy veteran.

“We offer them the support, confidence and training to transition skills from the military to skills in the community,” said Justice.

“The tools we’ve learned over the past few weeks, they’ve focused on vets and the troubles we go through in finding a career,” said Crowder.

“Ultimately - leading to a 92 percent success rate this year within four months of graduating,” said Justice.

These vets and graduates of Operation New Uniform will head to jobs across our area; back to work after serving for our country.

“I’m excited for the next step - account management!” said Crowder.
