FHP: Pedestrian hit and killed on Southside Blvd. in Jacksonville

9:43 P.M. UPDATE: FHP has released the name of the man killed in a crash that shutdown Southside Blvd. Thursday evening.

John Cable, 74, was killed Thursday after being struck by a Nissan Titan driving northbound on Southside Blvd.

The Titan was driven James Leake, 31, when FHP said Cable walked into the path of the truck.

Two children where in the truck at the time of the crash, but Leake nor the children sustained any injuries according to the FHP report.

8:34 P.M. UPDATE: All northbound lanes of Southside Blvd. are back open according to JSO.

The Florida Highway Patrol confirms the pedestrian hit on Southside Blvd near Jupiter Court has died.

The Northbound lanes of Southside Blvd are still blocked while officials conduct their investigation into the crash, according to FHP.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man in his 50's was crossing near the 2600 block of Southside Blvd.

The Sheriff's Office said the man was struck by a truck and killed.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the power was out in the area and no lights of traffic signals were functioning.

JEA was working on the power outage at the time and restored power shortly after the crash, the Sheriff's Office said.

FHP is the lead agency on the investigation.
