Person who gunned down Jacksonville mother in fast-food drive-thru found guilty

UPDATE: The suspect accused of killing a Jacksonville mother in a drive-thru at a Southside McDonald’s in 2018 has been found guilty.

Original Story:

The person who gunned down a local mother in a fast-food restaurant drive-thru is still out there.

Action News Jax learned more about the victim, Jamie Roque, 32. Her family shared pictures of the mother of three young boys.

“It’s just really hard to wrap your mind around it. It really is,” said Crystal Stinson, Roque’s cousin.

Stinson is hundreds of miles away, but her thoughts are here.

“It’s hard to put Jamie, my cousin, who was alive, and full of life, and then how she died,” she said.

Five days ago, police said a man shot the 32-year-old as she sat in the drive-thru of a Southside McDonald’s around 8:30 a.m. She was rushed to the hospital where she died.

“Jamie was doing something as normal as ordering food in a drive-thru,” she said.

Stinson said her cousin, a mother of three young boys, was a bright spot. But she said Roque was recently going through a difficult time.

Action News Jax reporter Amber Krycka found out an injunction had been filed against her in August of last year for domestic violence. About two months later, Roque asked a judge for a protective order against someone who provided childcare for her children.

As police continue to investigate, Stinson is hoping her cousin’s killer is found soon.

“We are all waiting the facts and what happened,” said Stinson.

Stinson also said the father of Roque’s three kids is heartbroken. She said he loved Jamie and he loves his boys.

Crime Stoppers said it has received four tips.
