Photo: Massive 11-foot gator pulled from river in Brunswick

A gator that measured 11 feet, three inches long was taken out of the Altamaha River in Brunswick.

Max Nichols, a hunter involved in the hunting of the gator, said the gator was killed legally by hunters through a tag system set up by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Nichols said the gator was harvested for the meat to be consumed and the hide will also be used.

The alligator was taken out of a boat at the Two-Way Fish Camp in Brunswick.

The picture was taken when the gator was being lifted out of the boat to be put in the back of a truck for transport.
