SAVANNAH, Georgia — Two people were taken to the hospital Friday night when a small, general aviation Piper Cherokee plane crashed on a golf course west of Savannah's airport.
The plane was flying from Jacksonville, Florida to Savannah, Georgia.
Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport Police were alerted that a plane had crashed on airport property around 9:56 p.m. on Oct. 9.
Officials found the plane west of Runway 10, just inside a treeline.
According to emergency officials, both people on board the plane had to be cut out and airlifted to a nearby hospital.
The plane took off from Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport, it was with BlueJay Aviation.
