The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT team is negotiating with an armed subject who police say shot someone on Tuesday night.
The 4800 block of Ortega Farms Boulevard near Catoma Road is shut down in both directions due to the police activity.
JSO Public Information Officer Christian Hancock said the incident began when a man shot a young woman in an apartment. The woman has non-life-threatening injuries.
When police arrived to investigate the shooting, the man barricaded himself in an apartment and the SWAT team was then called, Hancock said.

At least one apartment building was evacuated. At one point, a child was involved, but is no longer in the apartment and was not hurt.

The suspect fired shots outside of the apartment and police have not fired shots back, Hancock said.
A JSO SWAT team was also responding Tuesday night to an unrelated incident on the Westside.
