JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Crime scene unit detectives in Jacksonville are investigating a crash in which a pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck Monday.

It happened at the intersection of West Beaver Street and Jim Wright Road at 7:20 a.m. near the train tracks. The truck driving along West Beaver Street tried to avoid hitting the man and swerved to the right, but the pedestrian was still hit, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

First responders happened to be nearby and took the man to the hospital. He was hurt enough that JSO's traffic homicide detectives were called to the area.
