Just before 5 p.m., an Action News Jax crew at the scene observed that police had one entire building and the pool blocked off with crime scene tape.

JSO said it was called to the complex around 3:30 p.m. by some of its own officers. Detectives were conducting a canvass of the area as part of a follow up investigation and came across someone who led them to something suspicious.

"Out of an abundance of caution, as soon as the detectives realized that the circumstances inside the apartment were suspicious, they immediately got out of the apartment and removed themselves from that location and secured it," said JSO Sgt. Robert Johns.
