Popular Ponte Vedra restaurant LuLu's closed for health violations

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Health inspectors recently closed four restaurants for health issues, and each had roach problems.

Action News Jax visited LuLu’s Waterfront Café in Ponte Vedra Beach, where a health inspector found more than two dozen roaches in the kitchen. Health inspectors also saw food being contaminated by an employee and the floor covered with standing water, though they noted it was pouring rain outside during their visit. Lulu’s was temporarily closed for the violations.

Management released a statement that said, “As you know, we are in the process of making a number of improvements. The health department came in Tuesday and found some structural issues as well as wrote us up for a number of things that haven’t changed in years. All of the issues have been addressed."

At Yummy Pho on Normandy Boulevard, health inspectors found seven live roaches, 24 dead roaches in and near the kitchen and stored food not covered in the walk-in cooler. During a follow up inspection, an official saw more roaches and they were closed another few hours until pest control could be addressed.

At Zane’s Café on Bowden Road, health Inspectors found a live roach in the men’s bathroom, there was raw sewage on the floor with a with foul odor and the bathroom facilities weren’t clean. Health inspectors temporarily closed Zane’s.

A follow up inspection found some of the same issues and it was noted Zane’s needed a third inspection.

At Wok N Roll in Ponte Vedra Beach inspectors found 17 live roaches, dead roaches, and an employee with no hair restraint preparing food. They were temporarily closed, but received a clean follow up inspection the next day.
