The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said a woman has died after a tree fell on a trailer she was in during Hurricane Matthew.
PCSO said a man and a woman were trying to ride the storm out in a camper trailer in the 2300 block of Highway 17 South in Crescent City when a tree fell on the trailer due to high winds.
Deputies arrived at the scene around 3 p.m. and found that the man was able to escape with only minor injuries, but the woman was killed.
PCSO said its Major Crimes Detectives are investigating the death.
