CRESCENT CITY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol and Putnam County investigators are working to figure out what caused a deadly crash between a pickup and a go-kart.
The crash happened on County Road 309 near Fairway Lane around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, near the town of Crescent City.
Troopers say a truck driven by Michael Riebel, 54, hit a go-kart that was being pushed by three children.
The crash report states two children were flown to UF Health Gainesville with possible serious injuries.
A third child was transported to Putnam Community Medical Center where he later died.
The 10-year-old who died at the medical center was identified as Emanuel Acosta.
Investigators say that Riebel is cooperating with the investigation and did provide a blood sample for testing.
Charges are pending in the crash.
