Putnam police credit social media for arrest of accused thief

Megan Ellen Graham, 25, was arrested on one count of grand theft.

PALATKA, Fla. — The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is crediting social media for the arrest of a woman accused of stealing.

Police say Megan Ellen Graham, 25, took a woman’s purse out of her shopping cart at a CVS Pharmacy in East Palatka on July 14.

Photos from surveillance footage of Graham and a man walking out of the CVS Pharmacy were posted to the Putman County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. Police received several calls identifying the man and woman as Megan and Billy Graham.

A credit card from the purse was used at a convenience store in Hastings shortly after the reported theft.

Megan Graham voluntarily met with a detective on Tuesday and was arrested. She was charged with one count of grand theft and later released on $1,004 bond.

"This arrest was made possible because of all of the tips and leads I received that stemmed from the Facebook posting," Detective Spencer Reinert said.
