Report: St. Johns County teen stuns girlfriend several times with Taser

Gary Lemerand (SJCSO)

A man is in the St. Johns County Jail after he was accused of attacking his girlfriend with a Taser he took from her backpack.

Gary Lemerand, 18, faces theft, battery and obstruction charges after an argument with a woman led to an altercation on Nov. 1, a St. Johns County Sheriff's report said.

The report said that Lemerand, after fighting with his girlfriend "all night," dropped her off at a pool at a community near World Golf Village.

Lemerand then pushed her, and the victim tried to climb a fence in an attempt to get away, the report said. Deputies said Lemerand pulled her legs to prevent her escape, causing her to fall head-first.

The arrest report says that Lemerand grabbed the victim's backpack and threw items around while kicking and punching her. He then grabbed a Taser from her backpack and deployed it several times on the victim, the report said.

The victim tried to call 911, but Lemerand took her phone and fled, deputies said.

Lemerand is being held without bond.
