Motorcyclist dies in crash at Hodges and Glen Kernan

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is responding to a reported fatality at Hodges Boulevard and Glen Kernan Parkway.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A motorcyclist died when he was thrown from his bike in a crash with a pickup truck on Friday afternoon.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on Hodges Boulevard near Glen Kernan Parkway, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Lt. Jimmy Judge.

The motorcyclist was traveling south on Hodges and the truck was northbound on Hodges when the driver attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Glen Kernan.

The driver did not see the motorcyclist, who was thrown from the bike and died at the scene, Judge said.

A helmet was found 30 to 40 feet from the motorcyclist, so investigators aren't certain if he was wearing the helmet or if it was strapped to the bike.

No charges have been filed yet against the truck driver, but Judge said the driver will probably be charged with failure to yield right-of-way.

The motorcyclist, who is from outside the county, has not yet been identified because next of kin notification is pending.
