JSO discovered a man shot dead inside a car at Jacksonville Heights Apartments Tuesday morning.
Lillie Miller, who lives in a nearby building, says she heard the gunshot that claimed the man’s life.
“It just scared me … It’s so close. It’s right out the door,” Miller said.
Investigators arrived around 8:25 and discovered a man killed inside a silver car parked at the complex.
Among the evidence officers collected was a bicycle found on the ground near the vehicle.
Mychel Peterson also lives in the complex -- and heard gunshots.
"There’s a lot of gun violence going on around here," Peterson said. "I’m real concerned, at night especially.”
Both neighbors say crime is rampant in the area.
“I’m going to have to move because this is kind of scary,” Miller said.
Tenants say a giant opening in the fence is letting crime into the complex. Action News Jax asked management how they’re addressing renters’ concerns.
We’re still waiting for a response.
