Nixon secured 55% of the vote in her native Duval County, as Moody seeks to finish the remaining two years of an open U.S. Senate term.

Moody held the position of Florida attorney general in January 2025 before Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis selected her to occupy the Senate seat left open by Marco Rubio.

Rubio vacated the seat following President Donald Trump’s decision to nominate him for Secretary of State. This seat will be up for election again in 2028, with a term starting Jan. 3, 2029.

Moody addressed Florida voters at her watch party in Tampa, emphasizing her commitment to represent all residents across the state.

“I am mindful that there are millions of Floridians that voted for someone else ... I want everyone to know whether you voted for me or you didn’t vote for me, I am your senator and I am here to serve you,” Moody said.
