Gabriele Henry lives across the street at Citigate apartments on Gate Parkway.
He had just got home from the St. Johns Town Center when police flooded into this neighborhood.
"I was coming home from shopping and I see the helicopter flying around and the lights over here, trying to figure out what's going on," Henry said.
A helicopter flew above the apartment right after it happened looking for the person responsible.
"It was a shock to me," Henry said.
It was also a shock to people who live at the complex where the shooting occurred.

A day after the shooting many of them received an email from property management saying it was an isolated incident between two individuals that were visiting the community.
The email goes on to say the suspects have been apprehended but according to JSO they're still looking for the shooter.
"It was just crazy because usually you don't hear anything about that happening on Gate Parkway," Henry added.
So now Gabriele makes sure to exercise early before the sun goes down.
"I mean that is the best thing," said Henry.
Action News Jax asked property management why they sent out the email saying a suspect was in custody when JSO says that's not the case.
We're still waiting for their response.
