JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This week’s violations included multiple unsanitary situations including insects in an ingredient.
New Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffet on Deer Lake Court tops the health inspection list for having the most high-priority violations.
The self-service salad bar lacked sneeze guards, utensils weren’t properly sanitized and inspectors smelled an objectionable odor. The restaurant allowed an Action News camera to look around the restaurant and kitchen to prove to customers they fixed all of the violations. Acting manager Annie Zuo says they’re working to correct their errors.
“Every employee who works here follows the restaurant rules. You have to clean up and just follow the Department of Health,” said Zuo.
Health inspectors flagged 20 violations at McHenry’s Irish Pub in Keystone Heights. They included a live fly in the kitchen, no hand wash sink for employees, and a spray bottle with a toxic substance without a label.
The Silver Star on Blanding Boulevard had 24 violations, including food stored on the floor. Inspectors issued a stop-sale on some food in bad condition and they found pests, including beetles in the flour.
