San Mateo restaurant shut down for 4th month in a row

SAN MATEO, Fla. — This week, all three of our violators were temporarily closed, but the top violator is no stranger to the Restaurant Report.

The Ice Cream Station in San Mateo was temporarily shut down for not one, but two days. Inspectors found live roaches, food stuck to the microwave and raw meat that was being held too warm. The Ice Cream Station has been shut down by inspectors at least one day every single month so far this year. The establishment made the top three restaurant violators twice in February 2015.

At AKI 7 on Atlantic Boulevard, inspectors temporarily closed the establishment after finding 30 live roaches by the cook line, 9 dead roaches and the walk-in freezer gaskets were soiled with a slimy mold-like build up.

Inspectors temporarily shut down Kentucky Fried Chicken in St. Augustine after seeing 6 live roaches, a spray bottle with chemicals stored near, on and above the food prep surface, as well as build-up of food debris dust or dirt on a nonfood contact surface.
