An Action News Jax investigation is getting answers after we revealed a local man just arrested for possession of child porn lives near a school bus stop.
On Monday, we first revealed St. Johns County deputies and school leaders were at the stop near 19-year-old Neal Buckles’ listed address.
It’s in the Magnolia neighborhood of Ponte Vedra Beach, where three different schools pick up and drop off students.
The school district’s transportation director told us off-camera they are not moving the stop after reviewing it Tuesday.
We’re told they spoke with parents – and put their bus drivers on alert there.
Officials say the main reason for no change is Buckles has not been convicted of a crime. Some neighbors say they’re shocked by allegations against Buckles.
“I know almost all the little kids around here, it needs to be addressed and addressed sternly,” said neighbor Mike Diffenderffer.
School district officials said they will re-evaluate the bus situation if Buckles is convicted. We’re told possible changes may include re-routing the buses away from the area like they’ve done in other cases.
