JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. — A small plane crashed Sunday in the marshy waters off Jekyll Island, prompting a rescue effort by U.S. Coast Guard and crews from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Coast Guard Station Brunswick rescue crew assisted Georiga DNR officers located the plane and rescuing the pilot, whom a post on X said was in “good condition.”
The pilot was brought from the wreckage to a local area marina and onto emergency medical professionals for evaluation, according to social media post.
“Southeast District personnel executed a complex search and rescue mission through precise navigation and seamless coordination between watchstanders, operational crews and maritime partners to deliver rapid lifesaving response,” a post said.
