ST. JOHNS, Fla. — Sporting JAX, which fields professional soccer teams and runs a youth academy system, said vandals this weekend caused $2,000 in damage at one of its fields.
“Unfortunately, last night we experienced over $2,000 worth of damage to field equipment due to vandalism at Veterans Park,” a post on Facebook said, referring to a complex off Race Track Road in St. Johns.
Sporting JAX, whose ownership group include Ricky Caplin, former Jaguars Fred Taylor and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, is planning to build a 15,000-seat stadium near St. Johns Town Center for its pro teams in 2028.
