ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — St. Johns County is urging its residents to prepare for an additional three to four inches of rainfall through Friday morning, with heavy rain threatening localized flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.
The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team told you that this wet weather pattern is set to continue through the week and into the weekend.

The incoming weather follows recent rainfall across the county. The county said northeast winds are expected to increase Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing gusts of 25 to 35 mph, particularly near the coast.
Coastal areas in St. Johns County face severe hazards, including rough surf, dangerous rip currents and beach erosion. Breaking waves are expected to build to five to eight feet along the shoreline.
Emergency management officials are warning drivers never to drive through flooded roadways, emphasizing that motorists should turn around when encountering water on roads.

Authorities also recommend securing loose outdoor items that could be blown around by gusty winds, and staying out of the ocean during dangerous surf conditions.
St. Johns County Emergency Management operates the Alert St. Johns emergency notification system to broadcast critical updates to residents.
County officials advise the public to sign up for alerts on the Emergency Management webpage, ensure notification settings are active at all times, and follow the agency’s Facebook page for updates.
