A 26-year-old Tallahassee man is dead after a crash involving a semi truck Friday morning in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. on I-95 North just after State Road 206.
The unidentified man was driving a car on the interstate and “for unknown reasons” wasn’t able to slow down and collided with the back of the semi, a FHP report stated. The driver of the semi was not hurt in the crash.
The deadly crash shut down all northbound lanes for hours as troopers continued their investigation and crews work to clean up the area. Traffic was diverted onto SR-206 and backups spanned about five miles.
