THE PLAYERS kicks off the week with Military Appreciation Day

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — The annual Military Appreciate Day at THE PLAYERS will look a little different this year. Usually, on the first day of THE PLAYERS, the event has a concert to celebrate our troops. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic things will look a little different.

The event will celebrate the women and men in uniforms with a virtual daylong fundraising campaign called #Match4Military, which will help support local military organizations. Some of these will include K9s for Warriors, The Fire Watch, Greater Jacksonville Area USO, Wounded Warrior Project, Operation New Uniform, among others.

THE PLAYERS will match all donations up to $250,000.

THE PLAYERS has chosen a local organization, The Fire Watch, as its “Charity of the Day” for the first day of the event. The event is encouraging fans to become a “Watch Stander,” a nationally-recognized initiative started by Northeast-Florida-based nonprofit The Fire Watch. The intuitive to “stand watch” and “save lives” is in response to the sharp rise in veteran suicide rates locally and across the country.

In addition to the campaign, the event will also have its traditional flyover by the Fighter Wing. This year it will fly over the course, NAS JAX, and downtown Jacksonville. You can see the full route below.
