I-95N near S.R. 207 was closed for hours after police incident involving suspected violent fugitive from South Florida

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff’s office said deputies tried to stop a fugitive from South Florida on I-95. The car would not stop for police, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies laid out stop sticks and the car crashed. According to the Sheriff’s Office, it appears the person inside the car shot himself.

The Sheriff’s Office said the suspect died at the hospital from his injuries.

Authorities believe the man in car is a fugitive connected to a double deadly shooting in unincorporated Lantana, which is in South Florida near Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office released this information about the case this man may be connected to:

“Deputies were dispatched to domestic resulting in a shooting, in the 7900 block of Overlook Road, unincorporated Lantana. Upon arrival deputies discovered two adult females deceased from what appears to be gunshot wounds. Suspect was gone on arrival.”
