Teen accused of killing Tristyn Bailey mumbles ‘demons take my soul’ during court appearance

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County teen accused of killing Tristyn Bailey faced a judge Wednesday morning while muttering about demons.

Fucci wasn’t at the St. Johns County courthouse in person instead he went before a judge virtually.

In past hearings, the 14-year-old remained quiet, only answering the judge, but Wednesday was different. He was seen rocking back and forth and fidgeting in his seat.

Fucci stared at the ceiling and looked around the empty room multiple times. At one point he was heard mumbling on the phone about demons.

The 14-year-old waived his right to a speedy trial.

He is accused of brutally stabbing his 13-year-old classmate to death this past Mother’s Day.

Action News Jax reported when new videos from the State Attorney‘s Office were released a week ago in the murder case.

The evidence included Snapchat videos that show Fucci in the back of a patrol car laughing before he was considered a suspect.

Another video showed the last moments before Tristyn was murdered. She’s seen walking with her accused killer in the Durbin Crossing subdivision where the two lived.

About 90 minutes later, it showed Fucci running away from the crime scene back towards his home.

Another video released by the SAO appeared to show Fucci’s mother Crystal Smith entering her son’s bedroom and scrubbing blood off his jeans.

Deputies charged Smith with tampering with evidence and she was released on a $25,000 bond.

Smith, who also had a scheduled pre-trial hearing Wednesday, did not appear in court.

Fucci’s next court date is scheduled for Oct. 28 at 9 a.m. His mother’s next hearing is on the same day.
