St. Johns woman arrested for kicking deputy, authorities say

A woman has been arrested after striking a deputy and charged with domestic battery, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy responded to a call on Wednesday about a domestic violence incident taking place at a residence on Ponte Vedra Lakes Boulevard.

According to the incident report, Kimberly Renee Ward, 50, struck a victim who confronted her in their home. Ward struck the victim in the jaw  with an open hand that reopened the victim's scabbed laceration, the report said.

When the officer arrived, Ward struck the deputy during a pat down before she was placed in the patrol car, the incident report said. Ward is accused of having kicked the deputy in the groin area.

Ward was taken to the St. Johns County Jail.
