Early voting across in Duval County officially closed on Sunday.

He was one of many people who said they successfully avoided Tuesday’s potentially long lines by heading to the ballot box ahead of time.

“I actually timed it," Sharon Sussex said. "It was 12minutes from the time I stepped in the door until the time I walked out.”

Early voter turnout in Duval County had already exceeded records on Saturday night.

Duval is one of the few Florida counties that continued early voting on Sunday.

According to Hogan, more than 224,000 candidates already cast their ballots, exceeding the 183,000 early turnout record set in 2008.

“Everything about this election is different than anything I’ve seen in the past," Rose Marie Pinto told Action News Jax. "From the candidates to the issues, it’s a pretty historical election.”

Early ballots indicate a tight race between parties in Duval County, with numbers showing a larger turnout of Democratic Party voters.

One thing voters on both sides of the aisle can agree on is the importance of voicing your vote.
