WOKV first reported earlier this month that court records raised the question of competency for Jovan Sisljagic. A new order from the judge says Sisljagic has been found incompetent to proceed with pretrial hearings because of his mental illness. The nature of that illness is not being publicly disclosed.

Sisljagic has been committed to a mental health facility under the Florida Department of Children and Families, in an effort to improve his condition. A review hearing for his case has been set for October.

Sisljagic is accused of shooting a marked police patrol car with an officer inside, and then running off, before encountering other officers near the Waffle House on Beach Boulevard, near 3rd Street.
