Teen carrying semiautomatic handguns on Jacksonville Beach school campus arrested

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department announced Friday afternoon that a teen was arrested at St. Paul's Catholic School after two staff members noticed the teen acting suspicious.

According to police, the staff said the teen ignored them, so they contacted the campus police officer who found two semiautomatic handguns on the teen.

The teen was also wearing a rolled-up knit stocking cap that when unrolled was a full ski mask, according to police.

The teen gave the officer several fake names, but the officer was able to confirm the 16-year-old's identity and arrested the teen, according to police.

Police say the teen will be charged with the following:

  • Two counts of possession of a firearm on school property.
  • One count of possession of a weapon by a delinquent juvenile.
  • One count of giving a false name to law enforcement.
