Teen recovering after being shot multiple times during drive-by shooting in Jacksonville

A teen is recovering at the hospital after police say he was shot three times in a drive-by at Cross Creek Apartments Friday evening.

“I heard gunshots, and yeah I dropped to the floor,” said KG Grant, a neighbor.

Police said a 17-year-old standing outside an apartment in the parking lot was shot at least three times.

“Stay in the house, because it’s raining bullets in these neck of the woods,” said Grant.

Neighbors said the boy then got into a car with another person and drove about two blocks to a restaurant.

“He had multiple gunshot wounds in his chest and side,” said Nathaniel Wright, who quickly rushed to help the teen, along with his brother.

“I told him it was going to be alright, you know what I’m staying, just stay alive. He was burning, trying to turn on his back. I kept him on his side, and kept pressure on him,” said Billy Wright.

The two stayed by his side until an ambulance got there.

“I just kept telling him to pray, it’s going to be alright,” said Wright.

Police say they are now looking for the shooter and three other people who took off in a silver Nissan Altima or Maxima.

“Thank God he was able to drive himself over here to safety,” Wright said.
