JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A teenager was hospitalized Saturday evening after being shot in the neck, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded to a local hospital around 9:09 p.m. after a report of a person shot. They found a male in his late teens suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck, said Sgt. J. Johnson of JSO’s Robbery and Violent Crime Unit.
According to investigators, the victim was riding in a vehicle when he felt a sharp pain in his neck and realized he had been shot. He was then dropped off at the hospital by an unknown person, who left before officers could make contact.
The victim was unable to tell investigators where the shooting occurred or provide any information about a suspect. As a result, no crime scene has been located.
Johnson said based on information gathered so far, authorities do not believe the victim and the shooter know each other.
Police described the shooting as believed to be isolated and said there is no known threat to the public. No suspect information has been released.
