Thousands of Volkswagen vehicles recalled for stalling issues

Volkswagen AG is recalling 189,490 Tiguan small sport utility vehicles in North America for potential stalling issues, according to Reuters.

The company announced on Saturday that gas bubbles may form in the fuel system in the affected vehicles from model years 2009 through 2014.

The company reported that gas bubbles may form in the fuel system in the affected vehicles from model years 2009 through 2014.

Company officials say that when winterized fuel with high vapor pressures is used in warmer areas or during months with higher temperatures.

Volkswagen says the bubbles could lead to reduced fuel pump performance and pressure, potentially resulting in vehicle stalling, which could lead to an accident.

No accident or injuries related to the issue have been reported, according to Volkswagen.

Volkswagen says the recall will begin later this month, and that dealers will install revised electronic control module software on all affected vehicles at no cost, according to Reuters.

A total of 151,389 or the affected vehicles were sold in the United States. 38,101 were sold in Canada.

No other markets are affected by the recall, according to Volkswagen.
