Tornado Watch no longer in effect for southeast Georgia, northeast Florida

SOUTHEAST GEORGIA, NORTHEAST FLORIDA — 11:04 A.M. UPDATE: The Tornado Watch is no longer in effect for southeast Georgia and northeast Florida.

A few scattered showers and rumbles of thunder are possible as we head through this afternoon. Temperatures will be in the 80s in spots that did not see rain today.

More rounds of scattered showers and storms will push in along a stalled front overnight and into the early morning hours of Tuesday. A few storms could be strong. The biggest threat will be the locally heavy rainfall along with gusty winds. This front will continue to hang out in our area on Wednesday. Some spots could get 2-3” of rain by Wednesday. The pattern remains unsettled through the weekend.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for Duval, Columbia, Baker and Nassau counties and all of southeast Georgia until 11 a.m. We will be tracking a line of strong to severe storms pushing into southeast Georgia between 7 a.m. and Noon today from west to east.

Threats:

  • Damaging wind gusts (50-60 mph +)
  • Tornadoes
  • Some hail
  • Brief heavy rainfall

This line will likely be weakening somewhat as it crosses the FL/GA border into NE Florida. However, a few thunderstorms are still possible between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for northeast Florida. The highest threat for severe weather is in southeast Georgia. Northeast Florida’s threats include gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and an isolated tornado.
