Traffic stop leads to active warrant arrest

Richard Rivera Jr. was driving at 87 mph northbound on I-95 when he was stopped by police. The speed limit was 70 mph.

During the traffic stop, troopers found out the vehicle was stolen out of Orange County and that Rivera had an active warrant for three counts of domestic battery for his arrest.

When the troopers searched the stolen car, they also found a stolen firearm.

Rivera was arrested and taken to St. Johns County Jail. He is charged with grand theft of a firearm, grand theft of a motor vehicle, domestic battery, speeding, and having a suspended license.
