JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a truck that veered off an overpass and onto Lem Turner Road Sunday night, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash report from FHP details that the driver of the truck, a 45-year-old man from Fernandina Beach, suffered minor injuries after he traveled off I-95, over the shoulder, and then down the embankment of an overpass.
The truck, which witnesses said “flew” off of I-95, flipped over a couple of times and eventually came to a rest after hitting the wall of the underpass.
FHP says a male pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk of Lem Turner Road when he was struck by the truck traveling down the embankment.
The pedestrian, who FHP has not identified, was pronounced dead after suffering fatal injuries.
