Union County School release reopening plans

UNION COUNTY, Fla. — The Union County School District has released the reopening plans for Union County Schools.

ONCE THE SCHOOL YEAR BEGINS:  HELP TO PREVENT ILLNESS

  • Regular hand washing upon entering school and during periods of students’ transition from one location to the next will be taught and stressed.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available in high traffic areas.
  • Signs to include reminders for good prevention of illness and overall wellness will be posted.
  • Students are not to share personal items, such as school supplies or food/drinks.  Parents should consider acquiring back to school supplies early as supplies before school starts may be in short supply.
  • School buildings will continue to be cleaned daily.  High traffic areas will be cleaned throughout the day as student occupancy dictates.
  • School buses and seats will be cleaned prior to each morning pick up and before afternoon routes.
  • Water fountains, restrooms, sinks, faucets, door handles, desktops, railings, and tables will be cleaned daily.
  • Students in classrooms will be 3-6 feet apart when feasible.
  • Ensure enhanced sanitization requirements are in place through restructuring of custodial staff.
  • Promote social distancing through installation of physical barriers, partitions, workspace layouts, etc. to ensure individuals remain 6 feet apart where possible.
  • Consider closing communal spaces such as break rooms and conference rooms.
  • Restrict non-essential visitors, volunteers and activities involving external groups and organizations.
  • Touchless thermometers will be available to check temperatures.
