University of Florida student from Ponte Vedra Beach accused of raping woman at UF dorm

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A Ponte Vedra Beach teen who is a University of Florida student was arrested Sunday, accused of forcing a woman to have sex with him at a UF on-campus housing complex.

Ian Deal, 19, is charged with sexual battery, according to an Alachua County Sheriff's Office report.

The victim invited Deal to her apartment at the Keys Residential Complex and told him when he arrived "that they were not going to have sex," according to the report.

Deal later "grabbed her by the neck, flipped her over, and started taking her clothes off," the report said. The victim told police that she told Deal to stop.

The victim told police that Deal forced himself on her and that "when he was done, he rolled over and fell asleep," the report said.

Police brought Deal in for questioning and he told them he and the victim had consensual sex, according to the report.

Deal was arrested and taken to the Alachua County Jail, where he remained as of Monday afternoon. He was also trespassed from the Keys complex.

CBS4 in Gainesville reported that UF spokesperson Steve Orlando confirmed that Deal is a sophomore studying construction management at UF.
