Nassau County man arrested for alleged role in U.S. Capitol riot

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man facing charges related to the January 6 U.S. Capitol riot appeared in court in Jacksonville Tuesday.

Jeffrey Register, 38, of Fernandina Beach, is facing charges of knowingly entering or remaining in restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, knowingly engaging in disorderly conduct on restricted grounds, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

A federal document shows still images from video of Capitol Riots appearing to show Register wearing a “God, Guns and Trump” sweatshirt.

The document states he’s first seen outside Capitol approaching a broken window, then inside. The document said he ignored commands to leave.

He was released on a $25,000 bond and ordered to hand over any guns in his possession.

Register faces up to 30 months in prison and up to $205,000 in fines.
