Vandalism at a downtown apartment complex leaves some tenants feeling unsafe

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Vandalism at the Lofts at Jefferson Station Apartments has left one tenant feeling unsafe.

She recalled waking up to busted windows and glass Sunday morning.

“Some guy who had lived here had his car towed, came back and busted all the windows,” the tenant said, who asked to remain anonymous.

Action News Jax reached out to JSO to see if that was the case and to get an update. We are waiting to hear back.

According to the apartment’s website, the “upscale” units go for $1,200 to $1,800 a month. The tenant whom Action News Jax spoke to plans to move out.

“A bunch of us don’t feel safe,” she said. “People can get into that door for the elevator. People hold the door open. Anybody can come in. There is no security here at all.”

JSO’s crime map shows a reported car break-in, assault, theft, and burglary within a half-mile radius of the apartment this past week.
