Surveillance camera captures gunshots in deadly double shooting in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A surveillance camera caught the sound of nearly a dozen gunshots in a Jacksonville neighborhood.

"It's terrible for anybody to get shot, but for a child to get shot, especially right here in front of our house?" Alyssa White said.

She called 911 after seeing a teen stumbling down Academy Street around 8 p.m. Monday.

"He made it to the end of the road and he collapsed right there on the lawn," White said. "They were trying to bring him back… he was gone already."

While Action News Jax was in the neighborhood, a woman came up to us and said her 15-year-old son was killed.

Police said a second teenager was in critical condition. He was also hurt in the double shooting.

We found a family's car window shattered. A bullet also hit the car's front tire.

Jacksonville Sheriff Office said officers found a gun after the teens were taken to the hospital, and they believe at least two people were shooting at each other.

"I just pray that people start to try to make better decisions because that was a terrible thing to do, to kill that child," White said. "There's too many children dying. Just stop picking up the guns. It's not worth it."

JSO is asking anyone with information about the shooting to call them or Crime Stoppers.
