Flames destroyed a westside home Monday, leaving a mother and her 5 children with nothing.
Shantell Wright told Action News Jax she immediately noticed smoke billowing from the house on Ridgeway Road, when she returned Monday morning.
She described, “All I could do was just stand there and watch my house just go right in front of my eyes.”
Wright has lived in the house for 9 years, it’s where she raised all of her children.

The mother explained, “I know when they come home from school this is going to break their hearts.”
The State Fire Marshal is investigating what sparked the flames.

According to Wright it was likely a computer, hover board, or cable box plugged in in her daughter’s room.
The Red Cross was on scene Monday to assist Wright.
“It happened in my kid’s room so that does meant a lot. So, I do have my babies,” said a devastated Wright.
A GoFundMe page has been made by the family for anyone that would like to make a donation during their time of need.
