JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As Jacksonville Transportation Authority studies the Skyway’s future, the agency announced this week a return of Skyway Social - a Saturday night party at several of the monorail’s stations.

A JTA news release said the event - planned for Oct. 3, beginning at 6 p.m., - will feature lights and entertainment at the Kings Ave., Central and San Marco Stations in and near Downtown.

It will be the party’s third consecutive year - even as the JTA continues to study modernizing the people mover or to implement alternatives, including transforming it into an elevated walkway similar to New York City’s High Line.

JTA said each of the activated Skyway platforms will feature its own “immersive experience.” San Marco Station will spotlight live bands, while Kings Avenue and Central Stations will feature high-energy sets from local and regional DJs.

Each platform will be uniquely designed and decorated to reflect the character of the space and amplify the overall vibe.

More information is available on an event website.
