ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The City of St. Augustine invites residents, business owners and others to participate in the national City Hall Selfie Day competition on Tuesday.
The idea, designed to promote engagement with city staffs across the country, is to take a selfie in front of a municipal building with a city worker - and post it with a hashtag.
In St. Augustine, officials are asking people use #CityStAugSelfie, #CityStAug, and #CityHallSelfie - and tag @FlCities, @ELGLNetwork, and @CityStAug.

In the past, the City of St. Augustine has been recognized by event organizers Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) for best pet, most historic, and funniest.
“We started participating in this competition in 2017 with our own employees and over the years, we have encouraged the community to join us,” said Melissa Wissel, city Communications Director.
“We would love to see residents and businesses post selfies on Facebook and Instagram in front of any of our buildings,” said Wissel.
She encouraged people to stop by the fire department, police station, marina, or City Hall.
“And really anyone can do it, not just locals,” she said. “Everybody loves a good selfie, and we would love to win another award.”
