ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. — A man was arrested Friday night in St. Augustine Beach after a witness told police he was running around a hotel parking lot nearly naked, dunking a baby in a pool and driving erratically in a vehicle that smelled strongly of marijuana.
Michael James Bogdan, 35, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment, according to a St. Augustine Beach Police Department report.
The police report said Bogdan is a bank employee from Hamburg, New York.
The witness told police that Bogdan was driving around the parking lot of the Regency Inn and Suites on A1A and "almost striking other vehicles," the report detailed. The witness said Bogdan got out of the vehicle and began running around the parking lot wearing only boxer shorts and his buttocks were visible, the report detailed.
That witness took the keys out of Bogdan's vehicle, helped him get dressed in some clothes she found in a suitcase in the back of the vehicle and told her husband to call police.
The witness told police before Bogdan was driving around the parking lot, she observed him "dunking the infant under water" in the hotel pool "a few times without seeming to realize he had done it."
When police arrived, Bogdan and his family "advised they did not know about any disturbances or naked males running around the parking lot. They also denied knowing of any children or pool related incident," according to the report.
A woman holding a baby told police she was related to the group and Bogdan told police the baby was his child.
Police searched the vehicle and found four grams of marijuana in the front passenger's door and less than one gram in the front driver's door. A pipe with residue on it was also found in the center console of the car.
Bogdan was arrested and booked into the St. Johns County Jail and released on a $1,500 bond on Saturday.
