Woman killed by hit-and-run driver in Northwest Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are searching for a driver who hit and killed a woman late Saturday night.

Patricia Holt, 27, was hit on New Kings Road in Northwest Jacksonville just before midnight.

Four people have died in three separate crashes on the road In the past eight days.

Clera Gilbert said Holt was like a daughter to her.

“Very pleasant, personal, loving, fun going,” she said.

Gilbert said Holt was at Lavilla Sportsman Club with friends before she tried to walk home.

A witness said the car that hit her appeared to be a blue Acura SUV with damage to the passenger side mirror.

Police said they believe the car was a Volvo.

Two days before Holt was hit, a 45-year-old mother of four was hit and killed.

Police say George Keene, 49, admitted to hitting the woman. He is charged with leaving the scene of a traffic crash involving a death. He's also accused of robbing three stores while shirtless the same night.

On Oct. 30, two people were hit and killed just before 3 a.m. at the intersection of New Kings Road and Finch Avenue.

Police said two people in an SUV were also injured.

"I used to stay in that area, it’s not well-lit at all," Gilbert said. “It’s sad. She only has her mother, her sister, and she has a daughter."
