HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. — A woman was injured at Poe Springs Park Sunday afternoon from a falling tree branch that fell as a result of high winds from strong thunderstorms.
She was walking down the boardwalk that leads to the spring, when the storm came through and a branch fell and hit her, according to an Alachua County official.
Alachua County EMS said they responded to the scene and the woman was taken to UF Health Gainesville with serious injuries.
Another person was hurt from the same tree branch falling, but refused medical attention and was not taken to a hospital, officials said.
