You can help 2 litters of sick puppies by eating at Chipotle in Jacksonville

A dog rescue is raising money to treat two litters of sick puppies in Jacksonville.

Florida Urgent Rescue recently took in a litter of puppies suffering from parvovirus and a litter of puppies born in the woods that are in bad shape.

The dog rescue said it lost one puppy almost immediately but after a quick response from volunteers, immediate veterinary treatment and around-the-clock-care, the other puppies are OK for now.

They need continuous care while their little bodies fight off the parvo.

FUR built a custom trap to catch the second litter of puppies after they were born in the woods to a stray dog.

All seven puppies were dangerously dehydrated and needed subcutaneous fluids. One puppy, Jasmyne, was so anemic because of parasites that she needed an immediate transfusion to save her life, FUR said.

The puppies lost half of their hair because of infestation with tiny mites called Demodex. They have eye and ear infections and are loaded with worms, ticks and fleas, FUR said.

Caring for both litters of puppies is expensive, so the rescue is asking for the community's help with raising money to treat them.

FUR is inviting anyone who would like to help to visit a Jacksonville or St. Augustine Chipotle location on Wednesday between 10:45 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Show employees the FUR flyer on your smartphone or tell the cashier you're supporting the rescue and 50 percent of the proceeds of your order will be donated to FUR.

The rescue said if you order online, select "pay in store" and let the cashier know you want to support FUR. Catering orders also qualify.
