Police: Baby slaying suspect had bullets in pocket

Suspect arrested in Brunswick baby murder 03-22-13

None — BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) -- Police warrants say a teenager charged with fatally shooting a baby in the face in coastal Georgia had bullets in his pants pocket when he was arrested a day later.

The Brunswick News reports a search warrant filed Friday in Glynn County Magistrate Court says officers found two .22-caliber bullets in a pants pocket of 19-year-old De'Marquise Elkins when they arrested him March 22.
Elkins is charged with murder in the March 21 slaying of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago, who police say was shot in the face as Elkins an accomplice tried to rob the toddler's mother. Authorities also charged 15-year-old Dominique Lang in the slaying.
Police say they later recovered a .22-caliber pistol that Elkins' mother and sister dumped in a saltwater pond.
Both suspects have pleaded not guilty.
